Gigabyte has released the G-Smart: a Pocket PC-based phone with slide form factor and TV Tuner. The specs are as follows:
- Tri-Band (900/1800/1900)
- GPRS (no EDGE)
- TV Tuner (!)
- FM Radio
- Windows Mobile 5.0
- 64MB ROM, 64MB RAM
- Intel PXA272, 416MHz
- Bluetooth 1.2
- 2.4" QVGA Screen
- Mini-SD Slot
- Weight: approx. 153gram, with battery
- 109 x 53.5 x 24mm
At first glance, the small 2.4" screen and the TV tuner stand out – how the TV tuner performs while roaming remains to be seen, as it is a first in the PPC world. The screen is also 0.3" smaller than even the O2 Atom — prolonged readings of Avantgo may become strenuous to the eyes.
The slider mechanism is new to the PPC world, found previously on mobile phones such as Samsung’s D500/D600 series.
