Sony claims the reason for the delay was due to a key component of the Blu-ray optical disc drive had fallen behind schedule. Nevertheless, shares of the electronics giant fell 1.56 percent to 4,970 yen on Thursday after the announcement.
At this point, Sony is still keeping to the launch dates of Nov 11 for Japan, and Nov 17 for North America.
