Weather Wizard from Hong Kong Observatory

I came across this handy little app today from the HK Observatory. A small download (600kb) and this little icon will sit in the bottom right and show you instantly, on hover, the current temperature and humidity.

You can set it to update at 5- or 15-minute intervals… but I do wonder if their system will overload as a typhoon comes in — their website always seems to bog down during those times.

There are plenty of choices for alerts:

Tonight, I heard some very strange noises coming from my computer… then I suddenly realized a Thunderstorm warning had been issued. Very cool!
