Ah… Palm – a name that brings back so many memories. My first PDA was the Zire 71 and it had gorgeous features (for its time) such as a color LCD screen and a slide-out camera. Since the time of the Zire 71, the PDA/phone market has shifted considerably and grown exponentially. In only a few short years, the emergence of Windows Mobile and subsequently Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android platforms drove Palm further and further away from the limelight.
Within the past few months weeks, Palm had publicly courted buyers with a big “come get me” sign. Today, that finally became reality when HP announced that it would snap Palm up for $1.2 billion.
