Jumped Ship to Android

Posted by on Jun 6, 2010 in Tech News | 2 comments

After 10 years of PocketPC/PPC/WinMo/Windows Mobile/Windows Phones…. or whatever you want to call it,  I have jumped ship and have become an Android groupie. Have chosen the HTC Desire.

So far the experience has been quite positive except that I am almost out of space to add more apps.

Am hoping that there will be a Froyo update to the Desire quicksmart! Hopefully I can add more Android articles in the future.

Meanwhile it will be nice to hear about any tips and experiences

So far I have been quite happy with the Android experience. The OS is so snappy and I guess the 1ghz cpu has something to do with it. Multitasking is working a charm. There seems to be quite a bit of reserve on the cpu.

I am still quite annoyed that I can not install apps on my external card. Hope they get a firmware update soon. My app collection is growing very fast.

The Marketplace is quite easy to navigate about on the phone. I would still recommend you check out the Appbrain website as it will allow you to use the Marketplace on your desktop as well.

Battery life could be a bit better. No doubt battery life has reduced partly because of the faster cpu, but I hope future f/w tweaks will improve battery efficiency. I have turned off all unnecessary auto-retrieve syncs and this has help battery life a lot.
