It shouldn’t be long as drives normally arrives to market not long after press release. But I can forsee it will costs an arm and a let and you will eventually wait until the price is reasonable enough for you to buy it….which could take at least a year.
I think I saw one brand offering FW 800 but normal FW 400 are common. However expect a big premuim over USB and eSATA. Standard FireWire 400 is normally reserved for Mac users, AKA “rich people with money to burn” 😛 FW 800 is for rich Mac “Li Kai Shing” type of people who don’t count money. 😀 But wait, doesn’t Mac these days have eSATA already? If so, why use 800mbps if you can use 3Gbps?
It’s convenient if you have a lot of hdds. If you only have 1 or 2 hdds, then buy a case.
