One advice I can certainly provide is not to be lured by the amazing 5000:1 Contrast ratio bull####. I personally cannot tell the difference between the Topcon’s 600:1 and the LG’s 5000:1. My wife’s an optometrist and she cannot tell the difference either. I was told the contrast ratio difference will only show when you watch DVD. I tried that too. Nope nothing. However, no comments on the latest 15,000:1 or even some big size LCDs that have ridiculous 200,000:1 or even Panasonic’s 100″ LCD that has 1,500,000:1 (or was that Samsung’s?
I am close to getting the Samsung 2443BW. It’s a TN panel, retails for $2990 and Broadway offers 12x$250 interest free monthly installments..
My first choice was actually the BenQ FP241W. It’s a VA panel that has noticeably better color reproduction than BenQ’s TN panels (namely V2400W). The FP241W is being discontinued sadly… I found one at $4000, but they only had the display model left. :scold
