Speaking of migrating one system to another despite of hardware differences…
In the past when we buy a new system, we normally build a new XP and then re-install all applications, and then finally migrate our data from the old PC to the new one. That normally take days.
Just last week, I introduced a method for the company I work for that instructs technicians and engineers how to do all that in less than 3 hours.
I tested transferring my 22GB+ data from my crappy Dell Latitude D410 laptop to the Quad core + RAID5 system at home. It worked beautifully without any BSoD. So far I have tested transferring that to a D430, D630, Lenovo X41 Tablet PC, Dell Optiplex 755 Desktop, in addition to my home Quad and BenQ laptops. All work.
If you are interested, I can give you the guide (but I need some time to remove some confidential stuffs)… 🙂
