I usually drive, but I still use the MTR now and then. I found I had drop outs before when on the “used to be called” KCR line, especially between Tai Wai and Kowloon Tong when you go through the tunnel. This was with my previous phones as well, not just with the Touch Pro. I have not noticed any drop outs with the MTR…. mind you I have been on the MTR maybe once since I brought the Pro. I went from Yau Ma Tei to Wan Chai.
I wonder if it is service provider problem as well? I see you are with 1010, but I am with Smartone.
I feel that the Touch Pro is a snappier unit all round compared to my previous Kaiser and that includes the HSDPA as well. I am quite happy with the Opera Mobile. I praise Opera Mini on this site a lot and I still think it is very good, but Opera Mobile is a nicer, more fun experience when browsing. It’s great to get around a website by flicking your fingers around the screen.
What I suggest with these phone browsers is to stick with the mobile friendly sites as much as possible eg. m.facebook.com, http://www.google.com/reader/m etc etc. These mobile sites will save you a lot of waiting. Even with Safari on my daughter’s Ipod Touch I will try to bookmark as many mobile friendly sites as some sites are so big they still will take some time to load.
Hope you’re having fun with the Touch Pro… Have you tried the lightsaber program yet? It’s very cool! ;D
Apparently the Xperia will be in Hong Kong very soon! Another interesting phone to look out for!
