I dropped by a Fortress store yesterday and the guy mentioned that he heard about something similar and believes it to be from Draco (http://www.dracobox.com/hk/index.php). No idea when it will be out though. Funny thing is that it is not published anywhere – not even Now TV’s website. You would think that if they license the EPG to some 3rd party that it would be a big deal and try to get all the hype they can get…but doesn’t seem so. Unless it’s not official, I don’t know why???
I’ve switched to a Mac recently and not sure about your T43. I think you can easily get an USB tuner to input the tv signal to your laptop. Most of them should be bundled with software that allows you to record and schedule recordings to your hard drive. I personally think all the hardware is more or less the same, it boils down to the software and how user friendly it is. I used to have a Sony desktop that has the Vaio software for recording TV, which was pretty good.
My setup now is iMac, Elgato EyeTV 250+ (hardware), Elgato EyeTV 3.0 (software), Elgato turbo.264 (for speeding up converting video formats). I can have it setup to record a program, automatically convert it to a version for my iPhone and once synchronized, I’ve got my programs on the go. Quite simple. It’s too bad I can’t import the local EPG to the software, it supports ones from other countries, but not HK…Rumors have it that the new Mac Mini or Apple TV might have a PVR element in their next iteration…keeping my fingers crossed…
