I got my SE X1 on Nov 7th at 3. I traded in my HTC TytnII for $1,600. They had quite a few packages/rebates and I ended up with a pretty good deal.
If you join the data plan, the price of the phone goes down to $4,180. If you deduct $1,600, then the price goes down to $2,580. It’s a bit complicated b/c you have to provide proof that your average phone bill is more than $200 per month. You also have to join an 18 month plan so it’s a long commitment. Of course you have to pay everything up front and then they start deducting the rebates as the months go by.
I have been using the X1 for a few days. I’m getting old so my eye sight isn’t that good. The font size and icons are small. There are many panels and there are two panels that are a bit redundant. The keyboard is ok but something is missing. I can’t find the arrow keys yet.
The battery life is much better and I don’t feel like I have to stop surfing the net after 7 pm because I only have 10 percent of my battery life left.
Although the measurements of the X1 are only slightly smaller than my Tytn II, because of the narrowness of the phone, it feels less bulky. It’s not as wide and marginally thinner. Nonetheless, the phone feels good to hold and fits nicely in my jeans pocket.
I must say that the data plan at 3 is quite good. Much cheaper than CSL. I just hope the reception is good. My 3 plan doesn’t kick in until my CSL contract ends on Nov. 29th. I am hoping for the best because cheaper plans usually mean poorer service.
That’s it for now. More later.
