Oh my! Who’s putting pressure on the phone industry now! The new Iphone will be bigger (literally) and better yet will be half the price of the original. Apart from the addition of 3G, it will have GPS and be compatible with Microsoft Exchange! You will be able to Activesync!
Who will be thinking hard about becoming an Apple convert…if you aren’t already. At the very least you might want to hold on to your cash for a little while longer. Might be a price war soon perhaps?

Thanks for the headsup! Read about this in the USA Today and now it’s already announced.
Was going to get a Diamond, but with these tech specs and more importantly the price 😮 😮 … I don’t see myself getting a Diamond now.June 10, 2008 at 7:07 pm #2556
Hmmm… the US$199 price requires new 2-year AT&T rate plan, sold separately.
Wonder how much they will sell it for without contract.June 10, 2008 at 8:06 pm #2557

Looks like where AT&T is concerned you will only be able to buy the phone at the store with a plan. I wonder if 3 will follow similar plans? Maybe they want to see you actually activating the account. It appears you won’t be able to buy the phone direct from apple.com
Wonder how long it will take for someone to crack the IphoneII code this time?June 10, 2008 at 8:15 pm #2558
Looks like it’s coming to Hong Kong on July 11 as well!

They’ve updated Apple Store HK with the iPhone 3G, but the purchase link just redirects you back to look for a “Three” store…
PS. Apple’s website in English for those interestedJune 13, 2008 at 4:44 am #2559
just heard from a representative at 3: to buy iphone in hk, have to sign contract at HK$168per month, minimum 2years. then the phone is 199usd (approx. hkd1600).
btw: Three apparently has a 6-month exclusive of the iPhone 3G in Hong Kong.June 15, 2008 at 1:10 pm #2560
I checked out the specification for the 3G i-phone – interested to know if the 3G download and upload speeds are the same as the HTC Diamond (and Touch Pro will be)?
i.e. Is 3G i-phone also capable of:-
– Up to 384 kbps up-link and 7.2 Mbps down-link speeds
Cheers – Asiakiwi
PS: seems Apple have the language issues sorted out for their safari browser i.e. all languages work
Anyone tried switching between Korean, Japanese, Chinese etc. input methods (easy to do and can sites in all languages be read)?June 15, 2008 at 4:17 pm #2561

Hey Kai, is that HK$168 or USD$168, coz if it’s HKD, that’s awefully cheap for an iphone 😮June 15, 2008 at 6:07 pm #25620ne0neEight wrote:Hey Kai, is that HK$168 or USD$168, coz if it’s HKD, that’s awefully cheap for an iphone 😮
Sorry, that should be HK$168/month for the tariff plan… I’ll edit the post.
