For those that need a slight refresher, the Xperia X1 is SE’s 1st foray into the Windows Mobile world and has a 800×480 resolution screen — more than double the current QVGA variants we’re used to.
They had no problems with that gorgeous resolution, but the one drawback so far appears to be the slideout keyboard (shame!). Apparently there is not enough travel / tactile feedback from the keys — if the spacebar is the most tolerable key, then we’ve got a problem. Hopefully this is only an issue with the pre-production unit and will be rectified by the time shipment is made later this year.

I really, really hope that this is a really, really old pre-production model that I see on BGR, as the keyboard also lacks a control key.
The images on the Sony Ericsson site clearly shows a Ctrl key. I hope the later is true.
You can see it on the image with the penguins!June 19, 2008 at 8:19 am #2553
Great spot! Indeed I can see the Ctrl key in the picture above.
It would be a shame if the keyboard was so lacklustre… given S-E’s attention to detail I’d bet on an improvement come release time!
