Just found this host provider located in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Europe and Singapore.
I just subscribed to the Singapore host for 2 years at SGD$2.99/month or about SGD$35.40/year (HKD$198). If you are willing to prepay for 3 years, the cost is SGD$2.49/month. That’s quite a deal considering you get unlimited Bandwidth and Storage and various other perks as well.
It’s pretty good so far, however, it could take a couple of months to know if it is good or bad. I’ve been using it for the last couple of days and it was quite fast most of the time. There were intermittent “Destination Host Unreachable” but I was told it was probably because the domain name was being propagated to the root servers and it could take 24-72 hours to complete.
If all fails, there is a “Anytime Money Back Guarantee”. According to their FAQ, you can get your money back even for the remaining period in your account with NO QUESTIONS ASKED!
If you first apply, it will ask you for SGD$4.95/month for 12-month contract or SGD$3.95/month for 24-month contract. Simply fill in the application form and provide your email address BUT DO NOT SUBMIT. Quit and wait for their email (takes 10-15 minutes). Once you received their email, they might offer you 50% discount on the subscription and 50% off on all other upgrades and options. That’s how I got the $2.99/month for 12-month or 24-month contract.September 18, 2009 at 10:24 am #2025
And here’s the URL: http://www.justhost.com/
Looks interesting. Let me know what you think in a couple months!
Are you using this for your wallpaper site?September 19, 2009 at 2:03 am #2026
hehe…I forgot to post the link. Thanks Kai.
Yes, it was…..Ridiculously UHQ WideWalls. I need all the disk space and bandwidth I can get to support the images I have.
Btw, I resolved the “Destination host unreachable” issue I had the last couple of days. It was a firewall ruleset I had in Symantec Client Firewall that treat the RUHQ IP address as a trojan. So right now, no more outstanding issues…September 24, 2009 at 1:22 am #2027
Haha. How much disk space and bandwidth do you use monthly, really? I’d be wary of these ‘unlimited’ providers as their machines are normally super oversold..September 25, 2009 at 9:45 pm #2028elsdon wrote:Haha. Actually, bandwidth was not the main reason but rather the disk space. HK host providers only provide a small amount of disk space. I guess they expect you to store your files on external file and image hosts. However, external file and image hosts have limitations in which they only accept a miniscue amount of diskspace per file but many of my files are way beyond their limitations.
As if HK host providers offering limited disk space was bad enough, they could also run you $200-500/month and with limited bandwidths. Hosting a website in HK is very expensive!
Come to think of my last website, it used about 150-300 gigabyte (not gigabit) bandwidth per month. 🙂September 25, 2009 at 9:55 pm #2029
btw, still so far so good… The Live Support response time (the time you clicked for Live Support and the time they responsed to your call) is within 15 secs based on the dozen or so times I talked to support staffs at different times of the day. This was much faster than the average 15-20 minutes with my last host provider, Bluehost.com
Many of the cPanel bugs I had with Bluehost.com were fixed in Justhost.com. However, creating a subdomain and then having it to propagate to the root DNS servers take several hours before it becomes active. Minor but….
