Google Calendar has added support for sporting calendars and events!
Now you can add the games of your favorite teams. Simply click on your calendar settings to see a full list of sports, and they do mean full – everything from the “NFL to the Korean FA Cup” is listed here. Once subscribed, the team(s) you follow will show up alongside your regular calendar which you can easily toggle on/off with one click. In other words, the games won’t interfere with your main calendar.
During the games, the calendar will be updated with live scores as well which is a nice touch.
Don’t miss the addition of the “Birthday calendar” under the More tab – the data is pulled from your Gmail contacts though so make sure their birthdates are updated.

PS. I can’t figure out how to get the sporting events to show up on iCal yet: I found the calendars under iCal preferences > Account > Delegation, but after checking the boxes I see the Delegate calendars on the left, but no new events are showing up.September 3, 2009 at 7:19 pm #2055
Nice to have the schedules at your fingertips. No tennis? The schedules seemed to be placed onto a separate calendar overlay to your own personal one in Google Calendar. I do not think you can sync the overlay calendars to to your laptop or PDA calendar unless you move the schedules across to your main calendar on Google Calendar. Usually the one with your name.
If you click on one of the schedules you will see a link to “more details”. If you click on that you will then get more details about the event and there will be a top bar with “more actions”. There will be a list of what you can do including duplicating event, but the one you want is the “copy to (your own calendar name)” option .
I think once you have moved the schedule across you should see it in iCalSeptember 4, 2009 at 5:59 am #2056
Hmmm…I just realised you can move the schedules to your calendar even faster. When you click on one of the schedules you subscribed to you get the bubble which has a link at the bottom that says “Copy to My Calendar”. Once it has been copied to your own calendar you should be able to synchronise it elsewhere. Was that link there this morning? I don’t recall seeing it!September 6, 2009 at 12:35 am #2057
Thanks I was able to sync by copying to my calendar, but that means you have to copy every event individually?September 6, 2009 at 9:53 am #2058
