Been playing around with it since it was released, and I’m liking it so far. It’s very good for a Beta release, and pretty solid, not crashed yet 🙂
Anyone else using it?January 12, 2009 at 9:50 pm #2277
Downloaded it but haven’t had the chance to install it yet. First I will need to do a full backup of my 300+ GB data partition. I really don’t want the beta to screw up those files. I learnt the hard way with the Vista beta several years back. And I don’t feel like running from from VMware.
Any idea when the beta expires? I assume you are using the Beta 7000 Build?January 13, 2009 at 1:24 am #2278
Yeah – when does the beta expire? And does it upgrade from Vista Home Premium or would I need a clean install? I have Vista HP installed on one of my hard drives. It doesn’t get much use apart from occasional gaming, so I can afford to give it a test run…January 13, 2009 at 4:30 am #2279
It seems it can upgrade from Vista…
I am currently running it from VMware Workstation.January 13, 2009 at 4:41 am #2280

This is a good idea, I’ll try this too from VMware Fusion.
Just installed.. looks a bit different from Vista. Using Build 7000.January 13, 2009 at 9:51 am #2281
Yep, running Build 7K. Installed it to my T43 and I’m very impressed with it. So far, everything I’ve installed inc the AV is running fine.
MS have done an amazing job with this OS. Speed wise, it’s as fast as a newly installed XP, so I’d imagine it’ll fly on a C2D or quad desktop 🙂
This is a massive change compared to Vista Beta. I remenber installing it to my C2D desktop when it was released and it ran like a PIG!!!!
The only issue I’ve had so far was the wifi, for some reason, it couldn’t fine the correct driver for it, so I had to download it from the PC, but once installed, Window Update found the remaining drivers for the lappy 🙂
From what I’ve read at various forum, I think MS may be onto a winner here as response for the OS have been very positive. Lets hope they can stick to the release date and not screw it up this time 😀
