Google Chrome to Phone

Posted by on Aug 4, 2010 in Tech News | 0 comments

Here is a nice utility I wanted to share with you for the Android phone called ChrometoPhone

Google ChrometoPhone allows you to push links from your Chrome browser direct to your Android phone.  A nice added feature is that if the link is related to a certain app on the phone it has the ability to open the link to the app.  For example if you were to send a map link from the desktop it will open up Googlemaps on your Android phone to display the map.  If you send a Youtube link, Chrometophone can open up the Youtube app to play the video.

For it to work you will need to download and install an APK file to your Android device as well as a Chrome extension file to your browser.

Note that ChrometoPhone requires Android 2.2 or later for it to work.

LinkPush for Android

Posted by on Jun 9, 2010 in Tech News | 0 comments

Since the arrival of my HTC Desire, I have been busying myself browsing and installing apps from the Marketplace. I have come across a small yet useful little app called LinkPush. This app works in combination with the Chrome browser on your PC and Android. When you install the app to your phone you will also need to install a plugin button onto your Chrome browser.

Once installed it will allow you to send any webpage that you are currently browsing on the PC to your Android. Just push the Android button on Chrome and off it sends.

One use is when you are looking for a location on GoogleMaps. Once you have the location you can send it to your Android for later reference.

I am in the midst of moving offices and am currently at the renovation phase. I have been looking at colour palletes online for decoration and painting. So I find it useful when I find something I like I can push it to my Android to show my contractor later

Try out LinkPush and see what other uses you can come up with.

Jumped Ship to Android

Posted by on Jun 6, 2010 in Tech News | 2 comments

After 10 years of PocketPC/PPC/WinMo/Windows Mobile/Windows Phones…. or whatever you want to call it,  I have jumped ship and have become an Android groupie. Have chosen the HTC Desire.

So far the experience has been quite positive except that I am almost out of space to add more apps.

Am hoping that there will be a Froyo update to the Desire quicksmart! Hopefully I can add more Android articles in the future.

Meanwhile it will be nice to hear about any tips and experiences

However, it’s running on a somewhat outdated version of Android – version 1.6. It weighs in at only 88g and comes with a 5MP auto-focus camera with LED flash. Full X10 specs can be found here.
