3ree Broadband is born
HGC (Hutchison Global Communications) broadband has been re-branded 3ree Broadband:
We are pleased to inform you that, with immediate effect, the services you have subscribed to us, including Fixed Broadband, Residential Telephone Line, PowerCom Broadband and/or IDD 0080 services, will be provided by 3ree Broadband under the “3” family.
To get an idea of 3ree (ugh, I keep wanting to type 3free), they have posted new TV commercials here.
One thing not to miss out if you are an existing HGC Broadband customer, is the choice of one of two freebies:
- 3HK $300 handset coupon, or;
- Unlimited outdoor Wi-Fi (until December 31, 2010)
Promotion lasts only until August 31 so if you are an existing HGC Broadband client, go to this page to select and redeem your gift.

Back to School – Apple Roadshow 2010
There’s less than a month before Apple’s 2010 Back to School sale ends on September 7. Starting tomorrow (August 13), you can get hands-on play time with various Apple products at the Back to School Roadshow at one of these 3 locations. iPhone 4 Case Program – Hong Kong
If you purchase an iPhone 4 before September 30, 2010, you are eligible to receive an iPhone 4 Bumper or a select third-party case from Apple at no charge.

Start your morning with SCMP on your iPad – Free until early August
I just read in the real SCMP newspaper (yes, I still get the newspaper delivered!!), that SCMP will be free for viewing on your iPad until August.
If you have bought your “just released in HK” iPad then you might want to check out SCMP during the free to view period. After this period SCMP intends to charge 0.99c per issue.
Back to School – Apple Store HongKong
Apple’s annual “back to school” sale has started. From May 26 to September 7, 2010, upon purchasing an Apple computer (MacBook/Pro/Air, iMac) you can get a free 8GB iPod touch after rebates! This was how got my 13″ MacBook Pro last year after the June 2009 updates. If the MacBook Air gets a (great) refresh before the September 7 deadline, I would be seriously tempted!
