UPDATE: iPhone 4S will launch in Hong Kong on November 11, 2011.

The iPhone 4S has made it onto Apple Hong Kong’s home page. No official date for the HK release has been announced, and unfortunately Siri’s database does not include Hong Kong yet (Apple Daily, video in Chinese).

HKJC iPhone app not (yet) compatible with iOS5

UPDATE: As of October 25, the app is now compatible with iOS 5.

If you’re an addictive gambler, the HKJC iPhone app is not yet compatible with iOS5. Therefore, don’t upgrade to iOS5 if the mobile betting app is important to your daily workflow.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club would like to advise its customers who have installed the Club’s Mobile Betting Service iPhone App not to upgrade the mobile operating system to iOS5 to be launched by Apple until further notice from the Club.

The Club’s Mobile Betting Service iPhone App is not yet supported by iOS5.  Customers using mobile devices installed with iOS5 may experience difficulties in getting access to the App.  To avoid any inconvenience, customers are advised to continue using the existing iOS version to enjoy the service.  The Club is following up at full speed and will update the App as soon as possible.

The iPhone 4S has surpassed the iPhone 4 in pre-orders on the first day by approximately 400,000 units:

CUPERTINO, California—October 10, 2011—Apple® today announced pre-orders of its iPhone® 4S have topped one million in a single day, surpassing the previous single day pre-order record of 600,000 held by iPhone 4. iPhone 4S is the most amazing iPhone yet, packed with incredible new features including Apple’s dual-core A5 chip for blazing fast performance and stunning graphics; an all new camera with advanced optics; full 1080p HD resolution video recording; and Siri™, an intelligent assistant that helps you get things done just by asking.

Many customers in the US are already seeing their iPhone 4S shipped via various carriers. The 4S will roll out to 22 additional countries by the end of October: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

No word yet on when Hong Kong will launch the iPhone 4S officially, so expect the grey market to significantly drive up the price of 4S imports at places like Sin Tat in Mongkok!
