Bing Mobile has Voice Search

April 20, 2010 by jawis 2 Comments

If you haven’t updated your Bing app on your Windows Mobile, Blackberry or Sidekick in a while, you might not realize that Bing Mobile now has voice search.

I just tried out the voice feature with mixed results.  “Hong Kong Weather” was found first try.  “Inside Steve’s Brain” came up with “Insight Steve Brain” and “Inside Steve’s sprain” . When it is unsure it will give you a list of what it thinks you said and you can choose the correct one by tapping on it.  It found my search after the 3rd try.

I’m not sure whether the errors were due to bad mic quality or perhaps it couldn’t understand my Aussie accent.  I assume it is tweaked for more of an American accent. The voice data appears to be sent and analyzed online so there doesn’t appear to be any voice training recognition built-in.

Head on down to the Discover Bing page to get the Bing App.
