Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini

May 30, 2010 by kai 2 Comments

SEX X10 anyone? The Xperia X10 mini can be had from SmarTone-Vodafone for $0 – as long as you sign a contract of $298/month. However, it’s running on a somewhat outdated version of Android – version 1.6. It weighs in at only 88g and comes with a 5MP auto-focus camera with LED flash. Full X10 specs can be found here.

For more information, see SmarTone-Vodafone’s website.

Hi all people, I have a niggle..

. Yahoo and google maps keeps commencing up on it is own in background and getting loads of battery with it. For instance, yesterday I took it off charge and it was sat idle using the screen blanked for about 4 hours. When I flicked it on I was amazed to find out that the battery was only 50% full which can be bad even for the x10! When I looked at what was running, I discovered Moxier mail (no surprises there) and Google Roadmaps.

      Hi Dacia,

I have found that the Android OS seems to like turning on apps in the background without your knowledge. Would you be using Latitude or Buzz with Google Maps? This may cause Google Maps to continue to be active in the background. If you think it is chewing up your power it might be worth logging out to see if that helps.
I find it useful to have a task manager that allows you to kill apps in bulk to disable power hungry apps that you may have forgotten to shutdown. The one I like to use is Task Manager ( http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.rhythm.hexise.tas… ). It has a little Android Widget that you can click on when you want to bulk kill apps. It also sits on top of your task bar and you can pull down the menu to see more info on which tasks are running. You can also create an ignore list that will stop apps of your choice from closing when you click on the widget.
