Here is the full press release:
Mobexo is an innovative smartphone-based payment solution. With Mobexo, traditional payment instruments such as credit cards, bank accounts, checks or promotion vouchers are “virtualized” into smartphones.
The payment process is purely smartphone-based and no specific hardware is required. No Near Field Communication (NFC) chip, no specific point-of-sales terminal: Mobexo takes advantage of any smartphone with a display and a camera. QR codes are utilized in an unprecedented safe and smart way.
According to CEO Sopheap Lao (aka 劉鴻基), “It is not only safer and more convenient than traditional payment instruments such as cash or credit cards. It is also greener and more durable as it generates no paper and no waste. Moreover, it is probably the most secure and the most easy-to-use mobile payment solution ever designed today. Mobexo’s platform is so extensible we are yet working on hundreds of services to come, many one them being country-specific.”
The app will be available in the appStore on iPhone iOS5 as soon as iOS5 is released. Android and Windows Mobile versions are coming soon.
