SmarTone gets the iPhone 4S; Apple Online Store sells out in minutes

November 4, 2011 by kai 1 Comment

SmarTone (no longer SmarTone-Vodafone) has just started taking pre-orders for the iPhone 4S. Their servers are getting absolutely hammered at the moment, but I was able to order one for pick up which will hopefully be next week. As for price plans, they’ve introduced a nice “advise-and-consent” SMS if you go over your data allowance. Say you’re on the 150MB (previously 100MB) and 500MB plans and you go over, SmarTone will SMS you to ask for your permission to top up. As for the top-up price, it’s a much more reasonable $40 per 200MB.

See here for more detailed info on price plans: SmarTone | iPhone 4S – Monthly Plans and Credit Card Offer.

In other news, the official Apple Online Store in Hong Kong also started taking pre-orders this morning around 9am. Ridiculously they allowed each person to order a maximum of 10 iPhones. No wonder they sold out so fast!
