SmarTone fires $68 salvo – The Standard

August 27, 2012 by jawis 3 Comments

Price wars are always good for the average user. SmarTone has now also introduced a $68 unlimited data plan. The data speed is capped at 384kb/s, but if you are a casual user and use it for a little browsing and WhatsApp for example it should be enough for you.

Wonder if I should give this a try. My iPhone 4 contract just finished and my most recent bill was $4xx!

I have a similar plan for my daughter with China Mobile. It is just over $100 per month including the tunnel tax. I think she is only getting gprs speed. I think it works fine for her, but she complains when trying to watch youtube videos. I don’t really mind if that is the case. I guess I should check if there is an upgrade path for her as the pricings are getting quite competitive now. My own bills are also around the $400 mark

I wonder if I should renew my contract now and get locked into Smartone for another 2 years. Guess it’s better than paying $4xx a month…
