Microsoft is trying again on the Search engine front. The name is called Bing. Kind catchy, in a short, concise name sort of way."I wonder where I should buy my next pda? I know! Let me Bing it!!"Bing claims to be a more refined, organized search engine. For example it will help organise your search in a way so that you can have reviews or price comparisons of products all on one page. It also aims to make organizing business trips and holidays in quicker, easier steps. Will this be what breaks … [Read more...]
Skyfire out of Beta
Skyfire is finally out of beta. Like with all of the mobile browsers available it has it's strong points and it has it's weaknesses. I think it's strongest point is it's ability to load up pages with Flash very well. The other day I was able to follow live text on the BBC with auto-refresh and it worked perfectly. My main issue with Skyfire is that the text can still be quite small for reading sometimes. If I manually zoom into the page and increase the font size I then need to scroll … [Read more...]

vTap your Mobile
vTap is a program that allows you to find and stream video to your mobile phone. Software is available for Windows Mobile, Iphone, Touch and various other video phones. They recommend you have a fast data or wifi connection. Installing the software to the TyTN II was a breeze. Getting the program up and running was just as easy. Once started you get a list of recent videos found on the web, but you can also start typing keywords to find other content available. If you sign … [Read more...]
Pointui
The Pointui home screen aims to give you fingertip control to a number of shortcuts and has a very nicely done finger swipe interface to allow you to scroll horizontally and vertically around the screen. If you can't live without your Today screen like me, it's not a problem either. Just press the phone hangup button and you are at your Today Screen, which is now your Desktop. The bottom/left task button becomes a Home button. Click on that and you get back the Home Screen. … [Read more...]
HTC Cruise Specs released
It would be nice if the Cruise had a VGA screen, but there is no mention of it in the specifications. I bring this up because I saw the Eten X800 a moment ago. This unit comes with a VGA screen and the resolution was crisp and clear even when the text was minimised to micro, tiny. A disadvantage to the X800 however is the 128mb ROM, 64mb RAM Link: HTC Cruise … [Read more...]
Opera Mini 4, Beta 3 release
Now that RSS is an added feature, I think Opera Mini 4 might become my default browser on the TyTN II. Another feature which I think is quite useful is the Mobile View option found in settings. I've had some problems where some graphic buttons don't take me to their intended links. Mobile View will give you an even more simplified webpage which usually solves the problem. It reformats the page to a single column as well, which should be useful for phones with limited screen … [Read more...]
HTC Polaris
The HTC Polaris will have a 3.5" VGA LCD display. I'm looking forward to seeing the display on that screen. I think I would find the screen in landscape mode much more useful with vga. It would be interesting to know the overall dimensions of this unit. Link: Trendygadget … [Read more...]
Contact Manager from PocketCM
Contact Manager by PocketCM attempts to make the contact manager on your PocketPC a stylus free experience. In the spirit of the HTC Touch phone the author attempts to make finding your contacts a finger sliding experience. I find it quite enjoyable to use this piece of software. Flick your finger up or down the screen and watch you contacts scroll. The faster you flick the faster it scrolls for you. Put your finger to the left side of the screen and the closest … [Read more...]
My Mobiler
My Mobiler is a great piece of freeware! When run with Activesync you are able to get a copy of your PocketPC screen onto your Desktop. You can then fully interact with it using your desktop mouse and keyboard. So far I have sent SMS, browsed on PIE , logged onto MSN and watched a movie (albeit sideways) on my D810, all from my Desktop. The program also allows you to drag and drop files and comes with a handy screen capture feature as well. Link: My … [Read more...]
