Review: Apple Magic Trackpad

August 11, 2010 by kai Leave a Comment

Review: Apple Magic Trackpad

Apple's Magic Trackpad: an oversized MacBook Pro glass trackpad. The above statement may either be music to your ears, or turn you off from the trackpad completely. If you've used the unibody MacBook's glass trackpad, then this Magic Trackpad is basically just like it, but larger - Apple claims it has nearly 80 percent more area, which after my calculations is more or less accurate. Size The Magic Trackpad measures approximately 13cm x 13cm, but  if we're talking about only the surface area … [Read more...]

OtterBox Defender and Armor Series for 3rd Generation iPod Nano

Otterbox has been around since 1996 making cases for gadgets of all sizes and shapes. I was recently given a chance to take a look at a few products from them: the OtterBox for iPod nano 3rd generation Armor? and Defender? Series cases. Otterbox wrote: Our cases are dedicated to all the klutzy, spontaneous, chaotic, graceless individuals who have broken a device or valuable due to their active lifestyle. From left to right: OtterBox Defender, Apple iPod Nano (3G, 8GB), OtterBox … [Read more...]

Pointui

January 15, 2008 by jawis Leave a Comment

The Pointui home screen aims to give you fingertip control to a number of shortcuts and has a very nicely done finger swipe interface to allow you to scroll horizontally and vertically around the screen.  If you can't live without your Today screen like me, it's not a problem either. Just press the phone hangup button and you are at your Today Screen, which is now your Desktop.  The bottom/left task button becomes a Home button.  Click on that and you get back the Home Screen. … [Read more...]

Kaiser reviews Kaiser (HTC TyTN II)

October 12, 2007 by kai Leave a Comment

The HTC TyTN II (codenamed Kaiser) was officially launched in Hong Kong on Thursday, September 13, 2007.  The Dopod brand has been phased out due to HTC's acquisition of all Dopod assets and facilities in the Asia Pacific region. Thus this device is named the TyTN II instead of being a successor to the Dopod 838Pro. This is a plus for consumers as only HTC is responsible for providing universal ROM upgrades and support.   SPECIFICATIONS  Let's take a look at the specs of the … [Read more...]

Contact Manager from PocketCM

August 4, 2007 by jawis Leave a Comment

Contact Manager by PocketCM attempts to make the contact manager on your PocketPC a stylus free experience.  In the spirit of the HTC Touch phone the author attempts to make finding your contacts a finger sliding experience.  I find it quite enjoyable to use this piece of software. Flick your finger up or down the screen and watch you contacts scroll.  The faster you flick the faster it scrolls for you.  Put your finger to the left side of the screen and the closest … [Read more...]

GPS review – Qstarz BT-Q818 vs Holux GPSlim236

March 27, 2007 by kai 2 Comments

For comparison purposes the Dopod D810's built-in GPS was also tested (the updated ROM with built-in GPS was only recently announced on Dopod's HK site). The Trinity comes with a Qualcomm GPS module, which is coincidentally also used in the pseudo-UMPC HTC Athena (AKA Dopod U1000, HTC Advantage X7500, etc.) Brief word on the D810 GPS chip: The MSM 6275 is a 4-chip GPS module, and Qualcomm touts itself as the leader in "integration of slimmer devices." On the drawing board … [Read more...]
