Are there any of you that have upgraded?
I have updated to the SEA version. I have run on Tomtom, SPB pocket plus and nothing else since i want to see if its stable.
Can you guys post your experiences? ThanksJuly 20, 2007 at 6:44 am #1991
I have upgraded to WM6 for the D810 as well and so far have not encountered any major problems. I have basically set up my pda with the same software and Today Screen Shortcuts as I had it with WM5.
Mapking works fine. I thought I had a bug with Mapking at first as it wasn’t able to route me to a location I was going to, but it seems to work ok when mapping to every other locations. I will write to Mapking to see if it could a possible bug to that particular location.
I thought I had an issue with A2DP at one stage as the sound was skippig all the time, but it seems to be working fine now. I did have to tweak the A2DP sound quality again though.
SPB GPRS Monitor OK
Google Maps OK
Opera Mini OK
Microsoft reader OK
My Mobiler OK
Pocket MVP OK
Pocket TV OK
SMS Scheduler OK
Dialpads from Zombienexus ok
My Bluetooth headsets are working fine. HSDPA working fine. WIFI appears to be working well. Quite happy with the battery life as well.
I have a Toshiba 4GB miniSDHC and is working fine. Gosh memory is dropping!! I got this card only recently and paid $HK265. I paid more for my previous 2GB card!!July 20, 2007 at 10:06 pm #1992
Holy 265… where? I’m gonna get me one heh… Wan chai computer centre?’
I’m nervous about A2DP, but can’t test it yet as my unit is still being shipped. HAve you guys seen esdlife shopping? it has some good prices for Itech stuff. Cheaper then Wan Chai computer centre.July 21, 2007 at 1:35 pm #1993Hok wrote:I’m nervous about A2DP, but can’t test it yet as my unit is still being shipped. Which iTech bluetooth are you looking at? I recently got the Clip Radio and esdlife wasn’t as cheap as some places in Mongkok…July 23, 2007 at 5:56 pm #1994
I don’t think its very popular… but I bought the POW box. it was only 3XX I couldn’t even find it in some stores…November 5, 2007 at 1:56 am #1995
I finally upgraded (use the English version with Chinastar Chinese Input)… is much more stable than the official WM5 GPS release.
Good news is 3G Data transfer also seems faster…
It is basically the same ROM they ship on the HTC 3600i as I can see.
I have lots of different programs installed and found no clashes with any of them – if anything the system is running faster after the upgrade.
I also got all excited after doing my upgrade and even upgraded the look and functionality of the screens to Kaiser via xdadevelopers.com ideas (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr … Customizer ) – now I have a Kaiser interface on my D810.
Also installed things like Camera Album (the touch screen photo viewer, which works really well – see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340106).
I also tried Touch Commander (the touch screen navigation quick program launcher), but this is a little over-rated and not really needed when one uses the Kaiser Home screen anyway.
My D810 looks just so cool now – lol !!!
I also tried upgrading the radio (GPS transmitter software) – but found that it clashed with my version of Chinastar Chinese input – so downgraded back to V1.46 which came with the standard rom.
I did however install the Quick Position (basically is internet download of Satellite positions, which comes with Kaiser) and it does help me get a faster fix with GPS on my D810 – even though some people think it shouldn’t, others including myself are experiencing that having this is assisting quicker GPS lock on satellites (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307387)
I would go for the free ROM upgrade (if using English – I have not tested the Chinese one, but guess it will also be stable).

Funny you mentioned this, now I finally know the name of this “cube” program 🙂
I played with a HTC Touch few nights ago and found the cube to be quite a handy addon. I’ve gotten rid of “HTC Home” (the today plug in) as I find it takes up too much valuable screen real estate, particularly in landscape mode!November 6, 2007 at 7:27 am #1997
Interesting – you are using a similar flow to the upcoming Touch-Flow model.
I should add that I seemed to have a little trouble when using “HTC Home” and “Cube” together – basically once I did a down finger stoke in “Cube”, it opened / took me to my “HTC Home” screen… but due to the number of icons on my home screen (or a conflict in the version I downloaded), I could never get from the home screen back to the “cube” with a finger down stroke at the HTC Home screen… this sort of made the “Cube” function screens redundant for me really (as I could only get to them again via finger clicks to open the “Cube” program again…
Hehe.. I must admit, I also do like the HTC Home screen (personal preference)… so I can see at a glance weather, Skype and IM chats as well. Screen shot of my D810 attached. 😉
Cheers – Asiakiwi
PS: I also installed the Kaiser 3G Style “Dialer” on my Dopod D810 last night (works and looks great)… see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321605 (Should note also that I moved to the standard HTC Black Screen styles / .tsk file as well – had to download that at xda-developers as well, as was not included in the update WM6 Rom for the D810).
Incase anyone is wondering why the icons are not the standard Kaiser ones (icons are coloured, screen is a little darker, clock uses a different font etc.) – this is the as I used the “HTC Home Customizer” from post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr … Customizer to change them… basically this is an easy click and change add-on… it is just the one file… the “HHCv08b.zip” download seen at the bottom of the 1st post on that page (unsure if that feature to customise is included on the standard Kaiser ROM or not… but should work if anyone wants to change the icons… some screen shots of the present ones you can change to, can be seen at http://www.digitaldeviation.com/files/d … index.html … have fun!!!).December 12, 2009 at 11:48 pm #1998
